Home security tips.

• Make sure the house number is clearly visible and identifiable.
• Make sure all external doors and entry points are locked when not in use.
• Make sure all external doors are fitted with a dead-lock or dead-bolt.
• Make sure all windows are secured with either key locks or wooden blocks.
• Make sure that your home has automatic sensor lights.
• Make sure louvered windows are fitted with bars or security grilles.
• Make sure alarm systems are always used, tested and serviced regularly.
• Make sure there is an active phone line in at least one bedroom.
• Make sure garage and garden sheds are locked with quality locks.
• Make sure your electrical box is kept locked.
• Make sure all wheeled trash bins are secured (so they cannot be used as ladders)
• Make sure your mail and newspapers are collected and trash bins are put out when you are away.
• Hire a security patrol to watch your property when on vacation.
• Never put keys outside of your home (under door-mats, planters, or fake rocks)
